The 31st Edition of the Game Fair will take place on 22, 23 and 24 June 2012 in the prestigious park of the Castle of Chambord (Loir-et-Cher).
Scotland, country at the honour 2012

THE IRISH WOLFDOG by Hogan & Graham
The Irish Wolfhound Club of Ireland has scanned some of the books that are in the copyright of the club so that they can be disseminated to a wider audience. The first scanned book is 'The Irish Wolfdog' by Edmund Hogan, s.j. first printed in 1897 together with 'The Irish Wolfhound' by Captain Graham, first printed in 1879. The scanned version is from the book published by the club in 1972.

Résumé : Les chiens partagent nos vies, nos maisons, voire nos lits, comme de vrais membres de la famille. Mais d'où vient cette étonnante proximité qui fait du chien le meilleur ami de l'homme ? Des scientifiques ont découvert que les chiens comprennent parfaitement les humains, parce qu'ils ont appris à nous regarder dans les yeux et qu'ils savent lire nos émotions. A notre contact, ils ont aussi développé tout un langage d'aboiements pour se faire comprendre et exprimer leurs désirs, leurs peurs, leurs joies ou leurs peines. Certains ont un vocabulaire très étendu. Près de Vienne en Autriche, un chien réagit à plus de trois cents mots. Il est capable de chercher l'objet qui correspond à chaque mot.

Anthony Killykeen Doyle - ° 21.05.1943 - + 06.01.2011
Sadly Anthony Killykeen Doyle passed away on the evening of the 6th January from cancer. He did not give in to his illness, told very few about it and was even judging in America just a couple of months ago.
Tony celebrated his involvement with Irish Wolfhounds for fifty five years in 2009. During these years he pursued the breeding of temperamentally sound hounds which would be capable of carrying out the original tasks of the breed. His care and devotion to his dogs was apparent to all who met him. Tony was an institution in wolfhounds who had enormous knowledge and experience of the breed and delighted in sharing his expertise with others through his writing and judging.
Tony was a past President of the Irish Wolfhound Club of Ireland and of the European Irish Wolfhound Club. He was unanimously elected an honorary member of the IWCI at the last AGM and always supported us when he could; we and all his friends are saddened by his passing.

Avis aux éleveurs – Protocole Liste A
La plupart des éleveurs du R.A.L.I.E. ont maintenant signé le protocole pour figurer dans la liste A des éleveurs et ceux
qui élèvent plus ou moins régulièrement se conforment parfaitement à ses exigences.
A sa dernière réunion¸ le Comité a approuvé le volet “standard”¸ soit d´exiger un minimum
de qualité morphologique des reproducteurs utilisés.
Cette mesure est entrée en vigueur le 1er janvier 2011.
Ces derniers mois nous avons eu des nouveaux venus qui élèvent leur première portée et ne semblent pas parfaitement au
fait de ce système.
Il est clairement expliqué sur le site du club en tête de la liste des portées. Mais il nous semble utile de reprendre
l´ensemble des points auxquels s´engagent les éleveurs qui souhaitent figurer sur la Liste A¸ afin que tout le monde
puisse être au courant ; aucune dérogation ne saura être accordée dorénavant.
1. identification génétique des reproducteurs (pour les deux races)
2. dépistage des chiots pour le shunt porto-systémique (par dosage NH3 ou acides biliaires) avant le départ de l´élevage (pour les deux races)
3. dépistage officiel de la CMD (avec résultat indemne) des reproducteurs (Irish Wolfhound seulement)
4. le minimum d´un qualificatif TB obtenu par les deux reproducteurs à la N.E. ou au Ch. de France (en CI¸ CO¸ CT) ou un EXC dans une de nos Spéciales de race (en CI¸ CO¸ CT). (pour les deux races)
N.B. : Les points 1¸ 3 et 4 doivent être réunis avant la saillie !
